Adarsh Gupta joins Saregama as Head - Music Business

MUMBAI: After announcing his exit from Times Music, Adarsh Gupta has joined Saregama as Head of its Music Business.

As part of an internal restructuring, Gupta will head product management, A&R, physical and digital Sales along with manufacturing and supply chain,  bringing the entire music team under one roof. He will report to Saregama's MD Apruv Nagpal.

Gupta told RadioAndMusic.com, "I am looking forward to my appointment in the company. Our vision here is to transform Saregama that is considered to have shaped the history of music to a company that will now shape the future of music in the country."

Nagpal said, Adarsh is the ideal candidate to spearhead Saregama's future music strategy  We want to re-position our catalogue to be able to connect with consumers and customers across age groups and geographies by making it more contemporary and upbeat. There are huge opportunities for us, given the strength and appeal of our repertoire, in both the physical and the digital space....

As reported earlier by Radioandmusic.com, Gupta recently quit Times Music. He joined the organization in 2006 and it was under his stewardship, Times Music had launched its Bollywood arm Junglee Music in 2007, to capitalize on the raging popularity of commercial film music. He also spearheaded the Digital Music Initiative and ace Times Wellness venture which is based on Music Therapy in the field of medicine that uses sound frequencies to cure diseases. He also pioneered the close connection of music and spirituality which has the capacity to enlighten our minds and inspires us to deep dive within by leading the flagship Spiritual Music category along with music for fitness and therapeutic purpose.

Gupta has also worked in categories like FMCG products, Consumer Electronics and Entertainment (Music) across India, Russia, England, Poland and Fiji Islands.
