MUMBAI: UK's Absolute Radio will shortly launch a radio player application and online sampler campaign to attract listeners to the recently launched brand.

Close on the heels of its launch last month, Absolute Radio has rolled out the second stage of its ?15m branding campaign, with the social media application and online advertising in a bid to encourage users to listen online to the brand.

The player, which is available on 14 platforms including Facebook, MySpace and Google, enables users to download the application and listen to Absolute Radio.

Media reports say the radio player application is also supported by an online ad campaign which incorporates a dynamic feed into ad formats such as skyscrapers, leaderboards and MPUs, alerting users to what song is currently playing on Absolute Radio. Users can click on the ads to launch the player and listen to the song.

The campaign, which will run across music sites such as NME.com as well as niche music sites, aims to get people to reappraise the brand and attract both new and previous listeners to the site.

Absolute Radio, known as Virgin Radio in its earlier avatar, will also launch a downloadable desktop player for its online VIP community which has community functionality to alert them about updates on site forums.
