WorldSpace presents The Soundtrack Of Your Life - a pan network special

MUMBAI: A 11-week programming initiative on WorldSpace has finally begun! Soundtrack Of Your Life is a cross-platform programming initiative which highlights a number of our own WorldSpace Branded channels.At its essence Soundtrack Of Your Life is about the music - each of the 24 participating channels will be highlighting music relevant to their format that has come from film soundtracks. Each channel will also be adding in features, interviews and film clips as they present this programming special in their own unique and creative way.

Oct 22 - Oct 28VoyagerWe will be featuring a SOYL event everyday at 11 on Radio Voyager 11. This includes movie clips, music & trivia.

GandharvRadio Gandharv traces the history of film songs that have become `classics`over the years. Most of these songs have a long life because of their deep classical roots. The show would explore these classical roots (the raag,, sound, lyrics, etc). The series will also focus on the changing sound of the classics - how the same raag and same emotion, theme has been interpreted in different ways by different music directors/lyricists/film-makers in film music. It will cover the decades from the 40s till the present day. Radio Gandharv`s Soundtrack of your life -- Saat dashak, Saat swar, Ek Safar will showcase classical beauty of some classics over seven decades of Hindi film music. 7.30 pm IST all week.

This is going to be a wild ride, with short excerpts from the actual films, and soundtrack selections. Take a listen back to some of the most poignant, hilarious and utterly cliche` films that put you in a place in time...only on BOB 177.

Nov 26 - Dec 2RiffThe title of the program is "THE RIFF SOYL EPISODE". Riff will present over 130 songs representing approximately 54 films. We will present one Episode - an hour, 24 a day, 168 episodes total for the week.

Dec 3 - Dec 9Orbit RockEach day during SOYL, Orbit will add a bit of a twist and refer to it as the Soundtrack Of Your Life in (city or town.) Each day we`ll play artists that hail from a different city, and spotlight that city/town...example: Soundtrack of your life in Seattle...we`ll play music from Heart, Nirvana, Queensryche, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, etc. ...we`ll provide information on the artists and what impact they`ve had on their city.

Dec 10- Dec 16AmoreThroughout the week Radio Amore will spotlight Love Songs from popular motion pictures. Once every hour, a soundtrack song will be played and it will be introduced by a pre-produced vignette that gives a brief synopsis of the movie and information about the musical soundtrack

MaestroMaestro will feature music from the classic Hollywood film soundtracks, and will highlight composers who wrote both for Hollywood and the orchestral arenas. Maestro will feature music from the great film scores by composers such as Bernard Herrmann (Hitchcock scores like North by Northwest, Vertigo, Psycho), Dmitri Tionkin (Giant, Red River, The Guns of Navarone, Fall of the Roman Empire), Erich Wolfgang Korngold (The Sea Hawk, Deception, King`s Row, Robin Hood), Max Steiner (Gone with the Wind, King Kong), Miklos Rosza (Ben Hur), and John Williams. We`ll also feature these composers` works for the symphonic stage.
