MUMBAI: 94.3 Radio One morning show team distributed masks to the people most at risk, the Mumbai Police Force to protect them from Swine Flu. This was done to shield the tireless workforce, which shows up for duty, often in crowded environments, exposing themselves to the deadly H1N1 virus.
MJ Devaki went on air live and distributed masks to the traffic police and the home guards near Bandra-Worli Sea link and the Siddhivinayak temple in Mumbai. These are locations where a large number of police persons work day and night, ensuring security and easing traffic. Live links were setup from the venue and police officials were very appreciative of this initiative by 94.3 Radio One.
Health officials say more than 1,000 people in India have tested positive for the virus. Fifteen of the nation's 25 swine flu deaths have taken place in Mumbai's Maharashtra state. Four of those died in the city of Mumbai, which has a population of about 18 million people. Being a channel that is concerned and involved with urban issues, 94.3 Radio One has distributed these masks to the police force.
