MUMBAI: On 6 August, Karina Yanku debuted ‘The Healing Artist’ on the City World Radio network, and is pleasantly surprised at the sudden boost of requests for massage appointments as a result of the increased exposure that this new internet radio programme has generated. Yanku, a massage therapist and musician, has her hand in both the field of holistic health, and also in the field of music, so as a result, the show features “healing artists” from across the board: bodyworkers such as massage therapists, acupuncturists, reflexologists and energy workers, to yoga and Pilates instructors, physicians, scientists, researchers, musicians and visual artists.
“I wanted to create a platform to shine the light on the amazing people I’ve come to know over my lifetime; especially those whose mission it is to bring hope and joy to people, whether it be through the many different forms of bodywork available to the amazing healing effects of positive music or beautiful works of visual art”, Yanku explains. “It’s such a great feeling to be able to help these amazing artists bring their unique gifts to the public, and the radio show is turning out to be a really great vehicle to help them get the word out there about their work.” It’s also proven to be very educational for Yanku, as she spends a considerable amount of time and care researching her guests in advance of the show. Guest really appreciate it when an interviewer has done their homework, because it shows that the host cares about them and appreciates their hard work.
