MUMBAI: As part of its ‘Child in You’ campaign, CRY – Child Rights and You is organising a musical evening with performances by Taufiq Qureshi & Mumbai Stamp, Bonnie Chakraborty and Usri Banerjee. The event – which is open to all - will take place on Friday, 23 November between 6 and 8pm at the mini amphitheater on the Carter Road Promenade, Bandra West.

Speaking about the campaign, CRY regional director west Kreeanne Rabadi said, “The ‘Child in You’ campaign aims to remind each of us how important our childhood and schooling was, and therefore how important the Right to free and quality education is for the thousands of children who do not go to school.”

The evening will feature Bonnie Chakraborty of ‘Satyamev Jayate’ fame, who will perform some of his music hits. He will be joined by Usri Banerjee – the famous voice behind ‘Manmauji’. The artistes will perform a duet that has been specially composed for the event. Speaking about his participation in the ‘Child in You’ campaign, Chakraborty said, “I am honoured to be a part of such an event; till today I am in search of a road which leads me to my childhood, in reality there is none. I am sure this event with CRY will make me reminisce my childhood and I will be able to re-visit those fond memories.”

Also performing will be ‘Mumbai Stamp’, a band led by Taufiq Qureshi that uses trash material to creatively explore new rhythmic horizons. Waste materials like bins, cans, tin boxes and buckets will be used to create a rhythmic cadence and enthrall the audience. Speaking about the event, Qureshi said, “Childhood is carefree which rejoices in the new and the innovative. This is the spirit that Mumbai Stamp will capture with its unique percussions by creating music and rhythm out of trash cans and bins – beats that will call the child in each one of us.”
