MUMBAI: Big 92.7 FM, India's No. 1 Radio Station Network in its continuous endeavor of offering local connect and celebrating each day with listeners couldn't possibly give people's favorite festival, Ganesh Chaturthi a miss!  As the countdown begins, the Station is set to capture the spirits of much awaited Ganesha Mahotsav, by presenting the first ever Paper Mache Ganesha, that is for the people and by the people. With this initiative, the Station does not only take forward the eco-friendly message, but also gets the people involved, making it their very own Ganesha as it launches a paper collection drive – asking each house-hold to come forward and donate 1 newspaper, which will go into making of their Ganesha. With the Station's key offering of music, a tie up has been initiated with BIG Music for a special album by Shankar Mahadevan, which will see the stations distributing customized copies with the stationality inter-woven among the Ganesha pandals of the city

The Stations are leaving no stone un-turned to ensure a state of the art Ganesha is being made, one which the city is sure to love! The Stations are getting experts to come together to create a paper mache Ganesha, which will see the city's donated paper being used in putting it together.

In Mumbai for instance they have tied up with the Aniruddha Upasana Trust and with veteran designer Nitin Desai to put together the Ganesha idol

Similarly, the Hyderabad Station has tied hands with S. Kantha Reddy the city's veteran artist who will design and put together the Ganesha for the Station. Similar tie ups have been initiated in the cities of Bangalore, Indore, Bhopal, Surat and Baroda to ensure that there is no compromise on the quality and only the best is being offered.

The first ten days of August would witness an on ground connect with the Station visiting all housing societies and other key locations, to collect one newspaper from each household. The number of papers required are large in number and the Stations are confident of getting the support that they require from the local populace. The idea of getting people involved is to get them involved in the issue of eco-friendly Ganesha which is very critical and through this exercise; the city will come together as one and get connected as they feel responsible to their city and the environment.
The next phase will see the making of the Ganesha and then of course the sthapana at a key city location. Each day will see local celebrities and the listeners coming together to perform the arati's amidst great pomp and fair along with the BIG FM jocks.

The on air programming will have innovative content in terms of interviews, listener and celebrity interaction, live arati's from key city pandals. The devotional band will see the Ganesha arati's play Ganesh bhajans. On air will also see listeners wishes being fulfilled, as Bappa's mouse will pick lucky listeners whose wishes will be fulfilled. All this and much more on the city's favorite festival promises to keep everyone thoroughly entertained and glued to the Stations.

Livening up the mood of Mumbai, BIG FM RJs will speak to the city not only about the forthcoming Ganesha celebrations and preparations but also the different issues faced by Mumbaikars during and after the festival due to increasing levels of pollution. The entire peg will be to help Mumbai celebrate the festival ensuring the social responsibility on their part. The initiative has just been announced and the station has already started receiving great response from listeners wanting to contribute to the eco-friendly celebrations. BIG FM listeners will come together to perform the Poojan every evening with a known Ganesh Bhakt celebrity and take the lords blessing to live healthier and longer in a pollution free city.

Wishing the entire city a great & successful new year, Mr. Anand Chakravarthy, Sr. Vice President, Marketing BIG 92.7 FM said, Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated across the country with an equal amount of excitement, fun and entertainment, making it an excellent opportunity to reach out to the local populace and add more meaning and music to their celebrations. Across Mumbai, Gujarat, MP, AP and Kar this festival sees the city come alive with Ganesha Pandals in every corner. Over the years while eco-friendly Ganesha statues have become easily accessible, their usage in the festival is still limited. We started supporting Eco-Friendly Ganesha's last year itself and this year the initiative gives the common man a chance to get involved and contribute to a cleaner and greener environment. Through this offering, we want to connect the entire city and bring them together to make a difference through a simple act of newspaper contribution. Creating great content around local city specific and relevant festivals helps us in reaching out to our listeners with a focused and purposeful approach helping us in ensuring loyalty and creating advocacy for the station. We are confident, that people will come forward in large numbers to be part of their very own Ganesha created for them and by them....
