Excerpts:

Kolaveri Di has become a global phenomenon, what's your response on the success of the song.

Dhanush: Kolevari Di's success came to me as a surprise. It was just a simple attempt to entertain and connect with audiences. Nobody can plan this kind of craze or rage for their songs. You can just give your best and accept the result humbly. I think Kolevari Di's simple words and enjoyable tune has made a mark on everyone. Humor, I feel, has made all the difference and people from across the country can relate to what is being said in the song. It is the simplicity that makes everyone sing, tap their foot and enjoy the song.

Anirudh: This is my debut track and I never thought of it becoming such a huge rage worldwide. It's absolutely fantastic that it was liked globally. I think I was just lucky to get such kind of reviews. When I made the song it was just for the fun.

Chamak Challo raked over 10 million YouTube view in two months where as Kolaveri has hit the mark in just two weeks.

Dhanush: I am overwhelmed by the response. It never even struck our minds when we were recording the song that it would become such a rage. It just happened. My voice is full of mistakes and that's why it suits the song. We didn't have anything planned to make the song what it is now.

Throw light on the lyrics of the songs, how did the idea of broken English come up?

Dhanush: I wrote the song in under 6 minutes. The lyrics are simple, and I've made sure the words I've used can be understood by all kinds of audiences. however most musicians don't use the word song'. That's the highlight here!

Anirudh: It was absolutely a fun song, we were jamming and Dhanush came up with the whole idea of mixing Tamil and English and kept on saying Why this Kolaveri Di.  So we thought why not to make the whole song in the same manner. Their no brain storming that we did before the song. It just happened and thinks started falling in place on it's on.

Digital medium has become a new platform to promote the song and reach fans across the globe.

Dhanush: Facebook and Twitter have proved to be great platforms for people to express themselves. People from across the world can talk and discuss on matters to them. It is through the social media that Kolaveri has picked up and I'd like to thank people for supporting us and appreciating our work.

Anirudh: Yes, uploading on YouTube actually helped us a lot, in true sense it has broke the barriers and complications, people from all over the world came to know about the song.

Now that the song has been acknowledge worldwide, will we see Kolaveri Di concert?

Dhanush: Well, we can't say much right now.

You said in an article that the song is complete Nonsense.' Do you still believe the same?

Dhanush: The beats and words are simple, but is has gone up to being the biggest hit this year, maybe I have struck the right chord with the audiences.

Tell us about the other songs in the movie 3'?

Anirudh: Sony Music has brought the right for the music album of the movie '3'. The audio apart from Kolaveri comprises of 10 songs out of which we have one duet sung by Shruti Hassan. The duet is absolutely beautiful. The other tracks in the film are both poetic and simple.

How was it to collaborate with Shruti Hassan for a song?

Dhanush: I had a good time recording with her. Shruti is a great actor and an equally good singer. It's always been fun being around talented people. Shruti is a trained singer and has sung beautifully for the movie.

There is news of Kolaveri Di been recreated in female version, will Shruti Hassan be the part of the song.

Dhanush: It's too early to say anything, hold on till the official music launch.

Do you think with the tracks like Kolaveri Di and Ringa Ringa, Tamil Music has undergone a transformation and has opened a new market?

Anirudh: Earlier when the track became a hit, we didn't knew the reason behind the success but later when it was analyzed we realized that it was the whole English and Tamil combination that has been liked by the people across globe. The song has definitely opened up the whole new market and industry but I personally believe that there is no language barrier in music. It's just how well the music and lyrics connects with the audiences.

Dhanush: Kolevari Di is on high rotation on mainstream music channels. According to me now audiences have started enjoying the cult music.

What do you think on Sonu Niigaam son Nevaan's milk version?

Dhanush: Great idea by Sonuji, I'm in love with Nevaan's version of 'Kolaveri'. It's very touching and endearing.  Nevaan is a Rockstar, I would love to meet him and will also like to make a video. I know he will steal the show.

Which are the other upcoming ventures? Is Bollywood on the agenda?

Anirudh: Well thanks to my debut track I have received lots of offers from Bollywood. But I want to take it slowly and wisely and don't want to rush into such things so for now I haven't zeroed on any project. Right now I am just thankful for all the people who liked my song.
