Lava Mobiles launches new smart-phone sold exclusively on Amazon

MUMBAI: Lava Mobiles, the Indian mobile handset company, released a new Android smart-phone, the IRIS X5 as a part of its IRIS line-up in the Indian market on Monday, 1 September.

The IRIS X5 features a 5-inch 720p High Definition display and is powered by 1.2GHz quad-core processor. The smart-phone also comes with 1GB RAM, 8GB in-built storage, microSD card slot, Android 4.4, 3G and dual-SIM support. In addition to these, Lava has included an 8MP rear camera with dual-LED flash and 2100 mAh battery with the phone. The phone will be released in White and Grey-Black colour options; however at the time of writing this report, only Grey-Black colour option was listed on Amazon India.

Speaking on the launch, Lava International, chairman and managing director, Hari Om Rai said "At Lava, we are constantly channelising our energies to develop innovative products that cater to a various set of consumers at attractive prices. With the enthralling response that we got from users for X1 we decided to come up with another unique offering for our consumers. Iris X5 is a high quality camera smart-phone with a best in class front camera that aptly suits the needs of the selfie crazy generation. Through our latest device, we aim to further build a strong portfolio of mid-range smart-phones in the X series and deliver on our mission of empowering people to do more and be more."

The smart-phone will be sold exclusively on Amazon.in, where it can be ordered for INR 8,649, while the maximum retail price elsewhere is INR 9,000. Amazon.in has listed 4 September as the shipping date for the smart-phone. As a part of the launch day offer, Amazon will be bundling a 16GB microSD card slot, flip cover and screen protector with the phone with all order placed on 1 September.
