Intel enters smartphone market in India with #039Xolo X900#039

MUMBAI: Marking its entry into the telecom business, Intel has launched their first smartphone ‘Xolo X900’ in partnership with Lava Mobiles for the Indian market.

The highlight of this handset is the new Medfield CPU from Intel 'the Atom Z2460'. Based on the 32nm fabrication process, the Z2460 features a single core CPU running at 1.6GHz along with the usual Intel features like HyperThreading and Burst Performance Technology.

The smartphone features 4.03 inch LCD capacitive multi-touch screen, 1024 X 600 resolution, android 2.3 gingerbread OS upgradable to android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, corning gorilla glass, 8MP rear camera, 1.3MP front-facing camera with AF, LED flash, 1080p HD video recording and dual speakers.

The device is further enhanced with 1460mAh battery, 16GB internal storage, 1GB RAM, micro-USB 2.0 port, GPS, bluetooth, wifi and NFC.

Intel corporate vice-president & general manager of mobile and communications group Mike Bell said, “The first smartphone with Intel inside is now available to Indian consumers. The boundaries of personal computing are expanding. As we enter the India market with our first smartphone from Lava, the device not only showcases the rich capabilities and user benefits of Intel computing, but also highlights the exciting possibilities of what’s still to come.”

Lava International co-founder and director Vishal Sehgal said, “Through ‘Xolo X900’, we are happy to bring to the Indian market a device that addresses the needs of those for whom speed and performance matters. After our success in feature phones with over 10 million happy customers in under three years, Xolo will be a differentiated player in the fast-growing smartphone segment.”

‘Xolo X900’ is priced at Rs 22,000 and will be available in markets from 23 April.
