RAM Week 37: Fever, Red FM maintain growth

MUMBAI: Week 37 of 2010 saw Fever FM climb the charts marginally across three metros while maintaining status quo in Kolkata. Red FM too gained some points in three metros while losing marginally in Mumbai. However, Radio Mirchi saw its numbers dip slightly  in Bangalore, Delhi and Kolkata, and Radio City, which had performed consistently in the  past few weeks, saw a marginal dip in Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi.

Bangalore: In Week 37, leader Big FM inched ahead, gaining 0.3 points and garnering  a market share of 19.6 per cent. Radio Mirchi, at second spot, lost 0.2 points to end with a share of 17.7 per cent. Fever gained 0.1 point for a share of 15.6 per cent followed by Radio City which slipped by the tiniest of margins of 0.1 point to keep 12.6 per cent of market share. AIR FM Rainbow lost a higher 0.4 points. It was followed by Radio One at sixth position which too saw a tiny drop in listenership, losing 0.1 point for a share of 8.4 per cent. Red FM added 0.2 points to end the week at 8.3 per cent market share. It will be interesting to see the battle for the sixth position next week.

Delhi: In the Capital, leader Radio Mirchi lost out 0.1 point for a market-leading share of 24.6 per cent. Fever inched forward with a 0.1 point gain, to garner 18.8 per cent market share. AIR FM Gold added a considerable 0.3 points to end with 17.8 per cent market share, with Red FM at fourth position adding 0.1 point for  a share of 9.7 per cent. After an impressive performance in the last few weeks, Radio City lost 0.6 points to keep a share of 8 per cent. Big FM continued to inch upwards, adding 0.2 points for 7.5 per cent of the market share. Radio One, which lost 0.5 points, ended with a market share of 5 per cent. Meow kept status quo at 2.3 per cent.

Kolkata: After Bangalore and Delhi, Mirchi saw a drop in listenership in Kolkata as well. The station lost 0.3 points in week 37 to keep a market share of 20.2 per cent. At second spot, Big FM too lost 0.3 points and could garner 17.3 per cent share. Friends FM was static at 11.6 per cent,  while Aamar lost 0.1 point. Red FM gained an impressive 0.5 points to close with an 8.8 per cent market share,  taking over the fifth spot from Fever FM, which maintained status quo to close the week at 8.5 per cent market share. Radio One slipped in Week 37 too, losing 0.3 points. After a good run last week, Meow FM slipped again, losing a massive 0.7 points. The station managed to cut a share of 4.9 per cent.

Mumbai: Leader Radio Mirchi maintained status quo at 17.3 per cent to remain on top of the heap. Red FM with 13.6 per cent and Radio City with 13.4 per cent market share (a drop of 0.2 and 0.1 points respectively) kept the second and third positions. With a difference of less than 0.2 points between the two stations, it will be interesting to see how the stations fare  mutually next week. The race for the 4th spot is equally close, with Big FM, Fever and AIR FM Gold at one another's heels. Week 37 saw Big FM with 11.8 per cent market share, Fever at 11.3 per cent market share (+0.1 point), and AIR FM Gold, which lost a considerable 0.5 points to end with an 11 per cent market share. Mumbai proved to be the only silver lining for Radio One which managed to gather a considerable 0.4 points in the city for a 6.5 per cent market share.
