Bieber beats Beatles; sets a new Singles Chart record

MUMBAI: Justin Bieber continued his dominance in the charts with another week at the Top 3 of the UK Official Charts. Bieber becomes the first artist ever to log four weeks at number 1 and number 2 for his singles. Currently at number 1, 'Love Yourself' spent a week at number 2, and three consecutive weeks at the top spot, whereas, his second single 'Sorry' spent a week at the top spot and the next three consecutive weeks at number 2. On December 5, Justin Bieber broke the Beatles and Drake's record with 17 songs in the top 100 for the most simultaneous Hot 100 Hits, hence marking the most titles that any artist has placed on the chart in a single week

The recent development puts the Canadian sensation above The Beatles, who spent three weeks at the Top 2, for their singles - 'Hello Goodbye' and 'Magical Mystery Tour' in 1967/68.

The third position belonged to Adele's 'Hello', which returned to the third position after a week at fourth position. The 'Hello' singer’s third studio album ‘25’ becomes the fastest 2-million selling album in UK music history; the first artist to achieve the feat. Compared to her previous album '21' that took 13 weeks to reach 2-million sales, '25' took only 29 days, with sales between 46,000 and 61,000 copies a day in the past two weeks.
