FM Radio applicants should apply for security clearance by next week

NEW DELHI: Applicants wanting to bid for the FM Phase III and those wanting to migrate have to give details for security clearance in accordance with the fixed format, the Information and Broadcasting Ministry said.

The I&B Ministry once again placed on its website the format along with a new deadline requesting private players to respond by 21st January 2015. Earlier, the deadline was set to 5th January 2015.

Players who have submitted details do not have to re-submit, however, they have to submit the details of shareholders only as per proforma (Annexure III) which is attached below.

Apart from the copy of passport, the Ministry wants full details of directors/and vacancies if any. I&B Minister Arun Jaitley has already announced that the e-auction for 839 FM channels in 294 cities is expected to commence before the end of the present fiscal but will continue over the next three years.

The decision relating to Phase III was taken by the Cabinet on 7 July 2011. The Empowered Committee in March last year decided to charge fee for migration to existing operators who wanted to move to Phase III.
