Hrithik Roshan launches Radio City in Kanpur

MUMBAI: Radio City has made its foray into FM's phase III with the launch of its Kanpur station on Monday morning. The station to be aired on FM frequency 104.8, is the network's sixth station in Uttar Pradesh. Superstar Hrithik Roshan, who was roped in for a star studded launch, introduced Love Guru, Babbar Sher, Kal Bhi Aaj Bhi and Radio City RJ’s to the city of Kanpur.

Radio City now claims to have become 'the strongest radio network with 39 stations nationally covering six cities in UP'. The station will have a mix of 'wistful retro music, from the foot thumping new age peppy songs to heart rendering ghazals', says an official statement.

Radio City is all set to treat Kanpuriyas with the most innovative on ground activation by installing a Radio City branded studio at the Ramleela ground. For the first time in the history of Kanpur, the listeners will witness Ravan Dehen streaming live from Ram Leela Ground on 11 October 2016, 6pm onwards on Radio City Kanpur 104.8.

On the occasion of the launch Radio City CEO Abraham Thomas said, “With the launch of Radio City Kanpur, we are excited to foray into the first leg of our Phase III journey and become the strongest radio network in UP covering six cities and 39 stations nationally. The content of the station is designed and customised keeping in mind the Rag Rag Mein Daude City ideology with BabbarSher, Love Guru and Music being key drivers that would appeal to all Kanpuriyas. Kanpur being a significant market for Radio City, we are all geared up to redefine radio entertainment post carving our footprint in metropolitan and Tier 2 cities.”

Radio City currently has 39 stations to its name, including 11 newly acquired stations in Phase III auctions. In its third phase of expansion, the network will launch stations in Kanpur, Patiala, Patna, Jamshedpur, Ajmer, Kota, Bikaner, Nasik, Kolhapur, Udaipur and Madurai.
