Mirchi 95 takes Bollywood music route in Bengaluru

NEW DELHI: Bengaluru's latest FM radio station, Mirchi 95 is going the Bollywood music way.

While Radio Mirchi's first frequency in Bengaluru, 98.3, airs Kannada content for the last 10 years. Mirchi 95 on the other hand, has the same tagline 'Mirchi sunnewale always khush', but the jock talk is Hinglish and the music is contemporary Bollywood.
A new jingle has been composed by Sachin-Jigar for the new station, but retains the tagline, Mirchi Sunnewale Always Khush!

The Bollywood connect is being extended with an upcoming concert by Bollywood heartthrob Arijit Singh. Lucky listeners will get to win free concert tickets, and a few of them will even get to meet Arijit Singh for a meet-n-greet. The event will be hosted by a Mirchi 95 jock. There are some surprises lined up at the venue as well, with Mirchi 95 expected to launch the official video of the new Sachin-Jigar jingle.

ENIL has acquired second frequencies in nine  markets – Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Surat, Pune, Nagpur, Lucknow, Kanpur, Jaipur and Bangalore. The first stage of the auctions had covered 69 cities which already have FM channels but where vacancies for more slots existed.

Mirchi has already launched in Kochi and Guwahati last month.

The drive-time shows Whassup Bangalore (7-11am) and Breaking music @ 95 (4-9pm) will offer latest Bollywood chartbusters, while the afternoon show Mast Melodies (11am–4pm) will belt out contemporary melodious numbers. The night show Dil Chahta Hai (9pm-12 am) is a one of a kind romantic radio show.  The girl on the motorbike, RJ Nithya is the Pataka Guddi, who rides all over the city and connects with people all over Bangalore.

In the morning, Mirchi 95 has got on board radio jockey Amar who is a fitness freak, the afternoon show host RJ Ridhi is a drama queen and RJ Arpith, the host of the evening show, is nicknamed by his peers as the Robinhood of Radio. RJ Bharat is already popular among his fellow mates for his quirky tips on relationship issues.
