Apurva Purohit becomes president of Jagran Group

MUMBAI: Jagran Prakashan Ltd, which acquired Radio City, has elevated Apurva Purohit to the post of president of the Jagran Group. For the last ten years, Purohit led Radio City, and in her new role she will now oversee the entire business of the company- Jagran Group.

Apart from Radio City, Purohit will work with top management overseeing all the business operations, including the functioning of Midday, Inext, Jagran online and other print and non-print businesses, and shall also participate in strategic decision making for the group. She will also look into certain areas of the core business for Dainik Jagran.

An independent director at Mindtree, she has also previously worked with Times Television Network as COO, and brings with her 25 years of media experience ranging across partnering private equity players in building superior organizations, and creating valuable businesses, and handling media businesses and brands. Prior to entering the radio industry, Purohit was part of the television space, where she worked with Zee Telefilms. She launched successful TV brands like Zoom, India’s first lifestyle channel, fashioned the re-launch strategy for Zee TV and launched one of the largest media buying agencies in the country- Lodestar.

Commenting on the development, Purohit said, “The Jagran Group today stands at the threshold of a historic leap as it expands its footprint to access audiences across various demographics, geographies and distribution technologies. I am very happy to be part of this momentous journey.”
