TN agri university gets nod for CR station

NEW DELHI: The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University has received permission for establishing, maintaining and operating a community radio station.

The Community Radio Station is expected to be operational within three months as per the agreement signed with the information and broadcasting ministry 

With this, the number of CR stations will increase to 63 in the country.

One of the oldest agricultural institutions, the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University has a rich tradition of serving the farmers, extension workers and all stakeholders who are directly or indirectly connected with farming and rural development activities through various ways of transfer of technology and people- friendly media of communication  

The Ministry encourages setting up the Community Radio Stations as it promises to provide an opportunity to the local communities to express themselves, share their views and particularly the empowerment of women. Community Radio Broadcasting focusing on child health, healthy diets, hygiene, lifestyle, bank loans, training for cottage industries to penetrate marketing, legal awareness, medical awareness etc, will be useful for the community.
