Jamia Radio trying to tie-up with Psychology department of Delhi University

MUMBAI: For its program - 'Parwaz', Delhi based Community Radio Station (CRS), Jamia Radio, is trying to tie up with the Psychology department of the Delhi University. The program, which has received a lot of positive response, aims to bring to light issues like women and HIV, women and heart disease, domestic violence, and women and education.

Additionally, Jamia Radio has also tied up with Sarojini Naidu Centre for Women’s Studies (SNCWS) and Anwar Jamal Kidwai Mass Communication Research Center (AJK MCRC).

“We are always tying up with various departments of the Delhi University. This time we want to get the university’s Psychology professors on board for a special program on domestic violence. We want to analyse what goes on in the minds of both, the culprits and victims of these situations,” said Jamia Radio, producer, Dr. Mohammed Shakeel.

The CRS also broadcasts programs related to sports, career counseling, women empowerment and dental health, which are aired once a week for three hours. Like most radio stations, Jamia Radio follows the standard format of 70 per cent music and 30 per cent content.

In the recently concluded Advisory Committee meeting, it was decided that the radio station will add two or three more programs to its current offerings. When quizzed about the kind of shows they are planning to make, Shakeel said, “We have only just concluded our meeting onlyon Wednesday, so there are a few things in the pipeline.”

Established in 2005, the CRS is available on the frequency - 90.4.
