Lucknow University to start own CR station

MUMBAI: Lucknow University is all set to launch its own community radio station.

The Mass Communication department of the university had received the grant of permission agreement from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The station has received its letter of intent two weeks ago and it will start operating within six months.

Dr Mukul Srivastava, a faculty member in the mass communication department says, The department had applied for a licence around one-and-a-half-years ago, but could get clearance only now....

Pune CR Vidyavani airs show by and for visually challenged

MUMBAI: The University of Pune's community radio station Vidyavani aired an hour long programme run for, of and by the visually impaired, on 27  June.

The programme, Braille Webradio �Dnyanadrushtiche Saadhak Aamhi' (In pursuit of Knowledge) had students from Jagruti School for Blind Girls, Alandi, and sighted students from Aksharnandan participating.

Big steals lead in Bangalore, Mirchi rules in other metros

MUMBAI: Radio Mirchi's sweep of the ratings in last week's RAM statistics in all four metros, was stopped in week 24 by Big FM, which has stolen a march over Mirchi in Bangalore. In Delhi and Kolkata, Mirchi retains its lead by a wide margin. In Mumbai however, Red FM continues to snap at Mirchi's heels, threatening to usurp the position it has held for a long time.

Hyderabad education trust to launch CR station

MUMBAI: The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India has signed a Grant of Permission Agreement for establishing, maintaining and operating a Community Radio Station at Abid Ali Khan Educational Trust, Hyderabad. A letter of Intent has been issued to the Institute after recommendations of Inter Ministerial Committee and seeking requisite clearances from various Ministries. The Community Radio Station is expected to be operational within three months as per the agreement. With this, the number of CRS will increase to 50 in the country.

Ahmedabad's Mahila Sewa Trust to start its CRS

MUMBAI: Mahila Sewa Trust, Ahmedabad has been given permission for establishing, maintaining and operating a community radio station and is expected to be operational within three months.

Mahila Sewa (Self Employed women association) was set up on 18 June 1975 under the Bombay Public Trust act. Its main goals are to organise women workers for full employment and self reliance. It also organises women to ensure that they obtain full employment apart from providing childcare, healthcare, insurance and conducts trainings and seminars.

Mussoorie school to start own CR station

MUMBAI: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has given the go ahead to Guru Nanak Fifth Centenary School, Mussoorie in Uttarakhand to operate its own Community radio station, â€?Radio Khushi' 

The school has been granted its GOPA by the ministry for establishing, maintaining and operating a Community Radio Station and the station is expected to be operational within three months, as per the agreement.

Mirchi holds lead in Delhi, Kolkata, comes close second in Mumbai

MUMBAI: Radio Mirchi has held on its lead in Kolkata and Delhi, ahead of competitors, and has gained considerably in Mumbai to come a close second behind leader Red FM. In Bangalore, even though Mirchi comes second, leader Big FM stayed ahead in the game with a lead of almost four per cent, according to Ram data just out for week 22.
