The True School of Music collaborates with IGNOU to offer academic programmes

MUMBAI: The True School of Music, India’s first comprehensive institute of contemporary music has tied up with Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) New Delhi in a joint effort to provide students with broader skill sets, by offering IGNOU recognised degree courses along with music education. Starting May, True School will encourage students to apply for degree, diploma and certificate courses offered by IGNOU, provide counselling on courses relevant to their interest and guide them through the application process.

As part of this association, True School will give aspirants a chance to learn music and simultaneously study for an IGNOU degree highlighting the fact that while it’s important to follow your passion, one can combine it with a conventional degree to further capitalize their skill sets.

The True School of Music CEO Julia Leggett  said “True School has been instrumental in pioneering music education in India. We have always encouraged music lovers to learn music in a professional way and designed programs and courses that equip them to make a career in Music. At the same time, we believe that music education and academic qualifications go hand in hand and set the base for a right career path. We are pleased to partner with IGNOU in imparting quality education and opening up new horizons for the youth”

The True School of Music co-founder Ashutosh Phatak said, “The industry today is not just looking for raw talent, but a set of well-rounded musicians and with this collaboration we hope to further the vision of our students and parents in the career opportunities that lay ahead of this road.”

True School will recommend courses to students that can be pursued along with their music education and help develop fundamentals of a good musicianship. The school will soon turn into a study centre and conduct regular lectures as per the IGNOU syllabus.
