Yelp CFO Rob Krolik joins Shazam board as an independent member

MUMBAI: Well known music identification mobile application, Shazam, announced on 10 June that Rob Krolik has joined the Shazam Board as an independent member and Chair of the Audit Committee. Krolik is the Chief Financial Officer of Yelp, the famous American local business review site.

Speaking on the appointment, Shazam, executive chairman Andrew Fisher said, “Rob not only brings significant public market expertise but his experience at the intersection of digital commerce and advertising will add tremendous value to Shazam as we pursue our mission to help consumers magically connect to the world around them.”

On joining Shazam as an independent board member, Krolik said, “Shazam is defining a new category for enabling consumers to engage with content and brands in the most efficient way possible. I am excited to join the Board at a time when the company is uniquely positioned to continue its pioneering leadership in both music and creating new ways for brands to connect with users.”

Krolik has experience of more than 20 years in consumer market and public company, including several senior roles at eBay, Shopping.com and other leading online properties. Before joining Yelp in 2011 as the CFO, Krolic held the CFO post at Move.com, and before that served as VP of Finance for Ebay and CFO, VP Finance for Shopping.com before that. Graduating in 1991, Krolik has a BBA in Finance degree from the University of Texas, Austin.

Over the past year, Shazam has expanded its service beyond music and television to include retail, cinema and radio advertising. Recently, the music identification service announced the launch of visual recognition that extends the company’s mobile engagement platform, where items ranging from posters to packaged goods, print media and more are transformed from static images into dynamic pieces of content.
