LINE Corporation closes acquisition deal for MixRadio

MUMBAI: Japan- based global owner and operator of the free calling and messaging app company, LINE Corporation, has finalised a deal to acquire the free personal music streaming service MixRadio. News of the acquisition was first announced in December 2014.

With the acquisition, LINE will support MixRadio's development, and use the mobile operator's global footprint to expand to new regions.

MixRadio CEO Jyrki Rosenberg said of the acquisition, "The closure of the deal with LINE is an exciting new chapter for MixRadio. We maintain our mission to provide the world's simplest and most personal music streaming service, and this partnership presents considerable potential for expansion."

The streaming service has already started expansion across various platforms and new devices, including home audio and wearables. MixRadio also launched its very own recommendation engine, which it claims will deliver a more personalised music listening experience. MixRadio's leadership and development teams will join the new company, but will remain headquartered in Bristol, United Kingdom.

MixRadio is currently present in 31 countries and offers personalised and mobile-optimised streaming to millions of users. It will continue to deliver its listeners with the best possible mobile-first experience.

LINE has a total of 181 million monthly active users from 230 countries, making it one of the world's leading mobile messengers.
