BMG signs administration agreement with Tafari music

MUMBAI: BMG, Germany-based music rights Management Company has signed an exclusive, worldwide administration agreement with Tafari Music. Through the deal, BMG will administer the global publishing rights of the Tafari catalog, one of the most seminal catalogs of Reggae and World Beats music, featuring over 4000 titles.

Tafari Music represents musical artists specialising in Reggae, Dub and Dancehall by managing their publishing and licensing needs. The company has represented artistes like Mad Professor, Kenyata, Lukie D and a few more.

Some of the most recognisable songs in the Tafari catalog include Bunny Wailer's 'The Electric Boogie (Electric Slide)' 'Blackheart Man' and 'Cool Runnings.' Other talent on the roster includes Barrington Levy, David Hinds of Steel Pulse, Gregory Isaacs, Israel Vibration, Yellowman, Culture and Dean Fraser. The company is headed by Gary Himelfarb, known as 'Doctor Dread', who is noted for his support of roots reggae artistes and for expanding the genre's reach worldwide.
