Adam Levine's 222 Records announces partnership with Interscope

MUMBAI: Jimmy Iovine's Interscope Records and Adam Levine's 222 Records have formed a partnership to release the soundtrack of Levine's upcoming film 'Begin Again'. The announcement came on 9 June through The Voice star's label.

The soundtrack of the major motion picture film, produced by The Weinstein Company and directed by John Caney, will be distributed jointly by 222/Interscope. The movie stars Levine who plays a pop star opposite Keira Knightley as his song-writing girlfriend.

The album will be available from ALXNDR/222/Polydor/Interscope on 1 July and features songs co-written by Gregg Alexander, Danielle Brisebois, Nick Lashley, Nick Southwood, Rick Nowels, John Carney and Glen Hansard. The film will be released in theatres on 27 June 2014.

In addition to the Begin Again soundtrack, 222/Interscope will also jointly release Maroon 5's highly anticipated fifth studio album 'V'. The band recently announced details of their first single- 'Maps', which will be released on radio and iTunes on 16 June. The full album will be released on 2 September this year and features collaborations with Dr. Luke, Max Martin, Benny Blanco, Ryan Tedder, Shellback and Sam Martin.

222 Records was founded by the Maroon 5 vocalist in 2013 to sign Rozzi Crane, a music student he had discovered. The label is known for signing contestants of The Voice from Team Adam including Christina Grimmie. Crane will be the first new artist to release an album under the new 222 Records/Interscope Records partnership.

Interscope became the number one charting label in 2013 with the largest label share in more than four radio formats. The label has signed artistes like Lady Gaga, Dr Dre, Phillip Phillips, One Republic, Imagine Dragons and many others.
