Sony Music Entertainment and Simon CowellÆs JV Syco secures extension

MUMBAI: Music Mogul Simon Cowell and music label- Sony Music Entertainment have inked a six-year deal, which is an extension of the joint venture Syco. The revelation of the extension was announced at the Music Industry Trusts Awards gala in London on 2 November 2015.

56-year-old Cowell, who has a net worth of $550 million, was honoured with the 24th MITS Award in recognition of his contribution to music, entertainment and charitable causes. The honour has been given to various popular names in the music industry like Sir Elton John, Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber, Sir Tom Jones and Kylie Minogue, previously.

Cowell went on to say that he is happy to ink a six-year new deal, and thanked Sony Music boss- Doug Morris and his team.

2002 formed Syco Entertainment includes Syco Music, Syco Television and Syco Film. Syco Entertainment produces shows like ‘The X Factor’ and ‘Got Talent’ formats and has brought out talents like One Direction, Leona Lewis, Fifth Harmony, Labrinth, Il Divo and Olly Murs, among others.

A special video tribute was also given to Cowell, which featured popular faces.
