India's greatest musical minds are now a click away with "IPRS CreativeShala"

MUMBAI:  Our modern life had left us rushing and panting, with almost no time to pause and indulge in our passion. Time and often we have cribbed about lack of time to follow our passion or nurture our hobbies. While we are stuck indoors amid a nationwide lockdown, life has given us an opportunity to do what we love. If you have a hobby or passion or have been wanting to upskill your talent, this is the best time to do it. The current scenario is the apt time to unleash one’s creative self and step into the world of music with the best in the industry. IPRS introduces innovative digital series, “IPRS CreativeShala” that is all about creatively utilizing the newfound leisure time and being positive amidst the crisis. It’s an exciting opportunity for all music enthusiasts to hear from the experts in the field of music and enhance their skill set or rekindle their passion for music. IPRS CreativeShala series will entail a series of jamming sessions with a fun blend of masterclass, interviews, workshop and live chat by well-known musicians, composers, lyricists and authors on music and creative writing, streaming LIVE every Thursday & Sunday on Instagram at 7 pm.

The online initiative will be a unique opportunity for our members and all music enthusiasts to know more about music and creative writing from the best in the industry.  Mayur Puri, ace singer, lyricist & composer and IPRS Board Member said, “Creativity is a process of constant learning and evolving. Creative communities thrive on connections and group learning. #IPRSCreativeShala is our first step in this direction. Through this member outreach program, we aim to bring our community closer and engage more with each other to improve and better our craft. But it's not just for us. These online sessions are open to everyone who wants to foster creativity. A quirky mix of a celebrity hangout, an informal chat and an impromptu jamming session, #IPRSCreativeShala has something for everyone.  Our aim is to learn while having fun. This idea was just a wild thought brewing in my head before I was elected to the IPRS office as a director. But it gives me immense joy to see our back-end team work so hard to make it actually happen so successfully and I can't wait for the next session!”

The first session of the IPRS Creative Shala series took place on 30th March on Instagram wherein ace artists Anupam Roy & Mayur Puri spoke about their fascinating musical journey. The secret behind their iconic compositions and shared their learnings with the audience. The session became lively with Anupam performing his popular hits requested by the audience.

Anupam Roy is a popular Indian singer, lyricist, composer and playback singer from Kolkata, West Bengal. He is best known for his song Amake Amar Moto Thakte Dao (Autograph-2010) & composing the songs and score for Piku. He was nominated for the 61st Filmfare Award for Best Music Director and won the 61st Filmfare Award for Best Background Score for Piku.  Mayur Puri is an Indian screenwriter, lyricist, actor, and film-maker. He wrote songs, screenplays and dialogue for several movies, including Om Shanti Om starring Shahrukh Khan directed by Farah Khan. Additionally, He also wrote dialogue for Farah Khan’s film Happy New Year (2014).

The second session of IPRS CreativeShala that is scheduled for Thursday will be conducted by the famous Priya Saraiya (Panchal). She is an Indian playback singer and lyricist in Bollywood. She is also a live stage singer for Bollywood and Gujarati Folk Songs.  Over and above her performance and stories from her musical journey, Priya Saraiya (Panchal) will be discussing about recording techniques and tips about how to avoid regional accent while performing a Hindi song. The session with Priya in talks with Mayur Puri will take place on Thursday, 2nd April 2020 at 7:00 pm on their respective Instagram handle.
