MUMBAI: Yamaha introduced the Clavinova CVP-700 Series-the most versatile and best sounding digital pianos to date. The powerful, award-winning new lineup includes the CVP-701, CVP-705, CVP-709 and the CVP-709GP. At the heart of each model is Yamaha’s Real Grand Expression sound engine, which harmonises the three key elements of sound, touch and pedals to provide the definitive, immersive experience of playing a real grand piano.

For the first time, the Yamaha CVP Series features the sampled sounds of two world class concert grand pianos-the Yamaha CFX and the Bösendorfer Imperial-further redefining the expressive capabilities and dynamic range for digital pianos. “The Clavinova stands alone in the music experience it offers, and the new CVP-700 Series exponentially improves that experience for every member of the family,” said Yamaha Corporation of America, marketing manager, digital pianos, Dane Madsen.
 
Another highlight of the new CVP models is Piano Room, a remarkable feature first introduced in the previous generation and expanded upon in the new Series. Piano Room lets the player select from multiple types of pianos including grand, uprights, a honky-tonk piano and many more. Users can also select a playing location, such as concert hall, cathedral or stage. Instantly, the tone quality changes to match that piano and place, giving the player’s performance a totally different feel. When playing the grand piano or pop grand, the player can even choose to have the virtual piano lid open or closed. The new CVP-700 Series includes more instruments, such as Super Articulation Flute, Audio Style Drummers and Boys Choir plus a new session mode with a built-in recording studio for capturing and sharing your music.

The touch found on the new Clavinovas will impress the most demanding piano players, thanks to the refined NWX and GH3X keyboard actions. These actions incorporate an escapement that reproduces the feel of a grand piano as it goes through the let-off and drop of a hammer when a key is played very softly.

Super Articulation 2 Voices offer the most realistic, expressive-sounding instrument voices, while accompaniment styles with Yamaha Mega Voice technology provide everything from a drum beat groove to a full band of professional musicians who are always ready to play. This allows the user to be accompanied by backing bands or ensembles in any genre you choose.

Whether beginner or expert, the Clavinova’s unique guide system, Follow Lights, lets users simply follow the lights above the keys to learn a song. They can also view the notated music to the song right on their instrument’s screen. A terrific feature of Follow Lights is that as they play, the sounds of a full orchestra accompany them at their tempo, getting faster as their playing improves.

With unprecedented wireless iPad integration and exclusive Yamaha iOS apps, users can easily share their music online, archive their own songs or favorites, browse custom performance settings from the Internet and download new songs directly from the vast MusicSoft library into their Clavinova, all without having to connect any cables.

While the CVP Series has been widely popular with families seeking a state-of-the-art alternative to a traditional upright, the versatility of a Clavinova also makes it a music director’s best friend in contemporary houses of worship, as well as for professional musicians looking to expand their performance.

The CVP-701, CVP-705 and CVP-709 (MSRP range: $5,399 to $20,999) will be available in July in black walnut wood finish or polished ebony. The CVP-709GP (MSRP: $20,999) offers customers a 4-foot 6-inch baby grand cabinet with an enhanced sound system.
