&lt;p&gt;NEW DELHI: Admitting that it was â€?shameful&#039; that the Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity had fixed a rate of just Re 1 per minute for advertisements on community radio stations, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni today said a committee under the Economic Advisor of the Ministry was examining raising these rates.&lt;/p&gt;

 <title>82 community radio stations operational till 31 July</title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt;NEW DELHI: A total of 82 community radio stations have become operational in India, according to data available till 31 July.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The Information and Broadcasting Ministry has so far issued 233 Letters of Intent and 110 organisations have been signed Grant of Permission Agreement (GOPA) with the Ministry.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The number of community radio stations was 57 in May 2010.&lt;/p&gt;

 <title>71 community radio stations operational in India</title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt;NEW DELHI: Although letters of intent have been issued to 233 applicants and grant of permission signed with 102, only 71 community radio stations (CRS) are presently functioning in the country.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;This is a marginal increase over the 57 channels functional by March.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;A total of 727 applications have been received by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, of which 264 were from educational institutions.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;A total of 105 applications were rejected while 389 were under process.&lt;/p&gt;

 <title>Half of licensed community radio stations are operational</title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt;NEW DELHI: Though the number of community radio stations licensed in the country went up to 100 by March 2010, the number of stations actually operational stands at just 57.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The number of licensees in December 2009 had been 88 and operational stations were 50.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The total number of applications received by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry for Community licenses has been 659, and Letters of Intent have been issued to 219 while 87 applications were rejected.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The official announcement states, &quot;Listeners who have read these writers but had no chance to listen to them, can now listen to their voices and hear what they have to say.&quot;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The show is planned as a 52-episode radio serial, and will commence on 22 July at 7.30 a.m. with a repeat telecast at 1.00 and 6.30pm  &lt;/p&gt;
