My FM collaborates with Universal for music CDs

MUMBAI: After Kolkata based Friends FM launched its CDs in Kolkata earlier this year, Synergy Media's My FM has joined the music bandwagon by launching its music CDs in collaboration with Universal music. Named after its most popular night show �Chaandni raatein', the album will be available in stores all over India. The popular night show hosted across seven states - Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra through My FM's 17 stations is a musical tribute to the golden classics of Bollywood.

Aizawl gets first indpendent FM station

MUMBAI: Mizoram capital Aizawl got its first independent FM station on 15 August. Named 'Zoawi'(meaning celebrating Aizawl), the station, launched by Prasar Bharati, is positioned 'for the masses'. This is the second time Mizos get to sample FM, as AIR has been running Lunglei, which airs All India Radio content in the FM band in the city of Lunglei.

Govt cancels bidding for vacant FM channels in Phase II

MUMBAI: After hesitating for months, the Information and Broadcasting ministry has finally decided that the bidding of vacant channels of FM radio broadcasting in Phase II be cancelled. In a circular dated 28 August 2008, the ministry says that 'a combined tender be floated in respect of vacant channels of Phase II and channels of Phase III'. The Government is also considering the formulation of a 'fresh policy' in this regard.

K'taka HC orders review of B'lore music ban

BANGALORE: Justice NK Patel of the Karnataka High Court (HC) has directed the state police department to reconsider the applications for live bands within eight weeks, during a hearing on Thursday.
