Nine FM celebrates Thirty Five years 'Sholay'
MUMBAI: Many a mimicry artists have made �Arrey O Samba…kitne aadmi they…... their catchphrase and the dialogue is enough to transport us to the close up shot of a pair of boots and the sound of heels clicking on a rock. It has been almost three decades and a half and perhaps there is no other Bollywood flick which has been able to make such an impression as �Sholay'. The movie is almost a utopian representation of friendship, duty, love and not to forget villainy.
NINE FM, the station which chooses to be different, chose to celebrate the Independence Week in a unique manner. All FM stations vouch that they provide the latest infotainment and play the best of music but NINE FM has believed in delivering the unusual and surprising their listeners. NINE FM chose to celebrate thirty five glorious years of �Sholay' by broadcasting a special programme on Independence Day.
The show was titled �Ramgarh Live' and in it came alive the famous characters – Basanti, Jai, Veeru, Thakur, Gabbar and Samba. The show was produced with local mimicry artists who donned the role of each of the characters with finesse. The show not only celebrated the glorious years of �Sholay' but also revived the local mimicry artists Fauda Singh and Dil Kumar Chettri, who otherwise had almost been forgotten. This is also a mission of NINE FM – to help restore the forgotten glory of artists and provide a platform for new talents.
NINE FM also aired a week long contest where the character of Gabbar asked the listeners a question related to the movie and the show �Ramgarh Live'each day. The winners received exciting prizes.
