Paul McCartney composes score for Destiny, to release single for video game

MUMBAI: Paul McCartney will soon show he is more than just a veteran rocker with his upcoming track, which is part of video game called 'Destiny'. The former Beatles member is not only creating the theme song for the Xbox and PlayStation game, but will also be collaborating on the score.

According to reports, the theme song will be released as a single once 'Destiny' is out. The sci-fi shooting game is set for release on 9 September this year. McCartney is working with composers Mike Salvatori and Marty O'Donnell on the game's score, both of whom have composed music for another popular video game- Halo. Although the 72 year old singer/ song writer first revealed the project in 2012 through a tweet, it has been reported that he started working on it in 2010.

Earlier this week McCartney, on a Montana radio show said, "What I love about it is that my music will get heard by a whole other bunch of people. A whole other generation, a whole other type - gamers, really, rather than record buyers. That's exciting to me."

A clip of the game's score is currently circulating all over the net, which includes a grand orchestral arrangement. The Times reported that McCartney recorded the theme song at Abbey Road with a 120-piece orchestra. Mike Stent, producer for U2 and Madonna has produced the piece.
