"I am awed by Rahman Sir's time management skills," Shweta Pandit

MUMBAI: Lending vocals for the song, 'Heera' from the film 'Highway', Shweta Pandit has begun the year on a very positive note. The songstress has once again collaborated with AR Rahman for the project- 'Leekar Hum Deewana Dil' and has sung 'Beqasoor' and 'Khalifa' for the same.

Narrating an interesting incident to Radioandmusic.com about the song 'Khalifa', Pandit said, "I am singing the rap version in the song and it is very different from what I usually sing. The day I went to record the song in Chennai, Rahman sir actually forgot that he had called me and asked me to wait until evening. So I stayed at his house and waited until midnight, when I felt that I should leave. Just when I was about to pack my bags at 3 am, he called me to the studio and was asked to rap. Although I was half asleep I somehow managed to record the song. He is someone who can turn a classical singer into a rapper."

According to Pandit the second song, 'Beqasoor' was the tougher of the two as it has some ups and downs and variations that tests the skills of any singer. The song was recorded in a hotel room in Singapore when Pandit, Rahman and few other singers toured for the shows. Pandit got the call to record the track at 6 in the morning. "Rahman Sir briefed me about the song and said that the song was important and that is why I was called. His statement, in a casual tone gave me a push and this is how we recorded the song," she added.

In her opinion, Rahman is the only person in the music industry who travels across the globe, finishes a project in Los Angeles and comes back to India and on the same day starts working for the film 'Leekar Hum Deewana Dil'. "I am awed by his time management skills," she concluded.
