Ed Sheeran releases 'All of the Stars' from upcoming film 'The Fault in Our Stars'

MUMBAI: It seems like Ed Sheeran has found a new love- film soundtracks. The British singer/ songwriter has released a brand new track 'All of the Stars', from the upcoming movie 'The Fault in Our Stars'. Sheeran uploaded the track on his YouTube account on 9 May, and within just a day has garnered over six lakh views.

The track is accompanied with a video, of which most of the footage focuses on positive messages and notes that is taken from stills in the film. Sheeran appears only at the end of the video to sing the closing line of the track, sitting on a couch with the messages visible on the wall behind him.

'All of the Stars' is a far cry from his previous release 'Sing', which has a more upbeat and funkier sound. With the new track, the 23 year old goes back to his signature sound of acoustic guitar and a light piano accompaniment. The track picks up at the chorus which is powerful and has Sheeran singing, “All of the stars will guide us home.”

This is the 'A Team' singer's second film soundtrack. Last November he released the track 'I See Fire' for the film 'The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug'. Sheeran was personally approached by director Peter Jackson for the track, which he wrote, composed and performed.

Like his previous film soundtrack, the 'A Team' singer's new release 'All of the Stars' will feature during the end credits of the film. 'The Fault in Our Stars' is based on the bestselling novel by John Green of the same title. It stars Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort, and will be released on 6 June 2014.
