Rihanna takes home four honours at iHeart Radio Music Awards

MUMBAI: The first ever iHeart Radio Music Awards which was held on 1 May at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles saw pop superstar Rihanna walk away as the biggest winner on the night. The Barbadian singer took home four gongs for Song of the Year (Stay), Hip Hop/ R&B Song of the Year (Pour it Up), Best Fan Army (Rihanna Navy) and Artist of the Year, in which she beat competition from Imagine Dragons, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Maroon 5 and Justin Timberlake.

Singer/ songwriter and music producer Pharrell Williams was also honoured at the awards for his contribution to music. The 40 year old, who has had a very successful year in music, won the iHeart Innovator Award. He also performed a medley of his popular tracks 'Blurred Lines', 'Get Lucky' and 'Happy'.

Other artistes who took away awards at the event include two time Grammy winner Lorde for Best New Artist, Dutch DJ Avicii for EDM Song of the Year (Wake Me Up), Imagine Dragons for Alternative Song of the Year (Radioactive), Miley Cyrus for Best Lyrics (Wrecking Ball), Blake Shelton for Country Song of the Year (Boys Round Here) and Pitbull feat Ke$ha for Best Collaboration (Timber). Also receiving awards for their social presence were 'The Way' singer Ariana Grande who won the Young Influencer Award and 18 year old Austin Mahone who bagged the Instagram Award.
