After the success of the film Queen, Kangana Rawat is on cloud nine as the actress has been experimenting with different genres. After rocking the box office with her latest film, Rawat is back with a bang, with yet another film which is a comedy drama. The music of the film is composed by Sanjeev Srivastava and the lyrics are penned by Puneet Sharma. Shaheen Iqbal. Radioandmusic.com brings to you the review of the film Revolver Rani. The album comprises seven songs.

Bol Rahi Hai Payal:

The song takes you back to the era of 90’s wherein composers like Nadeem Shravan dominated the music industry and singers like Kumar Sanu were extremely popular. Avi Dutta sounds very similar to Kumar Sanu and if the purpose of the song, was dig up achieves of your memory then job is done if not the track could be off beat. Anweshaa Dutta Gupta has also rendered the vocals for the song and the lyrics are penned by Puneet Sharma.

Chanda Ki Katori Mein:

Chanda ki Katori Mein is a lullaby and the vocal of the song are rendered by Garima Aneja. The singer does her job and the song is good. But if you compare it to Soha Saha, the lullaby from Highway, this track does not even stand anywhere. The song is written by Puneet Sharma. The other version of the song is sung by Piyush Mishra and better than the one sung by Garima Aneja.

Pehle Lohe Ki Chingaari

The song starts with the sound of a bullet and gives you a perfect feeling of an opera. The track very effectively describes the bloodshed happening in that region. The lyrics are captivating and the vocals of Sameera, Gorisa, Keka, Manjeera and Backing are commendable.

We mix you (Michael Jackson)

The deliberate tuneless quality of the vocals gives an impression of drunken karaoke. With heavy use of an octapad, the song does have the occasional dafli (hand drum). It would be safe to term it ‘confused’ since there is a lot going on at the same time. The feel switches from disco to a live low-budget wedding band to some 70’s disco funk with quicker beats. A rather distracting element in the track would most certainly be the screeching sounds commonly heard due to audio feedback.the track is sung by Saleem Javeed and the lyrics are written by Puneet Sharma.

Zardozi Lamhe

A rather interesting title, this track speaks about the intricately embroidered moments. The ‘ektara’ in the beginning of the song gives it that love-struck flavor. There are sudden and brief inclusions of strong guitar pieces twice in the track. Soulful singing combined with the dafli and reverb effects in the end takes one back and forth between love in the late ’90 and today.the track is sung by Moin Sabri and the lyrics are penned by Shaheen Iqbal.

Revolver Rani (Reprise)

A definite attention grabber, it is a remix of sorts and an artsy one at that. It has slow placed top beats with a lot of different underlying rhythms. Usha Uthup’s voice is more prominent in this bassy reprise. However, it seems as if some effects have been thrown simply for good measure, without serving a more concrete purpose or adding to the track.

Over all, the album is good and is open to interpretation. Composer Sanjeev Srivastava has tried to do a lot of things at one point in time which is good and this shows that he has understood the producer’s brief very well. the album has variations but at the same point in time only time will tell if the songs will be accepted by the audiences or not. The film is slated to release on 25 April 2014.
