Ed Sheeran fulfils a fan's dying wish by serenading her

MUMBAI: British singer Ed Sheeran is considered one of the nicest guys in the music business, and he recently showed just why. The 'A Team' singer fulfilled a fan's dying wish by serenading her with one of his most beloved tracks.

Triona Priestly, a 15 year old Dublin resident was suffering from cystic fibrosis and was in her final stages. According to reports, her final wish was to have Sheeran sing to her his track 'Little Bird', which was her favourite. Sheeran obliged, and even though he could not make it to meet her in person, he called her and sang it to her over the phone. Priestly's family said that she drifted off to sleep while he was singing to her and not long after the call ended, Priestly passed away in her sleep peacefully.

Priestly managed to meet the 23 year old singer/ songwriter after her family and friends started the Twitter campaign #SongForTri, which explained the young girl's last wish. The effort reportedly spread through Sheeraan's nine million followers, after which his manager reached out to a friend of Priestly's.

Sheeran also took to his Twitter account after he learnt of her passing and paid his respects. He tweeted, “Rest in peace Triona, so heartbreaking x".

Currently, the 'Kiss Me' singer is working on a new album. He revealed that the first single from his upcoming EP is titled 'Sing' and will be unveiled on Zane Lowe's BBC Radio1 show on Monday.
