Khushali Kumar talks about working with Shakira and Justin Bieber

MUMBAI: Khushali Kumar, designer and sister of T-Series honcho, Bhushan Kumar, has dressed up many celebrities in Hollywood and Bollywood. Adding to her list of the international clientele, the Indian designer recently worked with diva Shakira and teen popstar Justin Beiber.

Talking about her experience working with the ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ singer Kumar said “The dress that Shakira wore on the program ‘The Voice’ was a part of the fashion show that was happening in the US. Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn viewed my collection- ‘Reve’ privately and felt that the line would be a great fit for Shakira. The look that they were going for was sexy, glamorous & unique and Reve delivered the same! Rob was drawn to this line, which is fairly new in the US market, as he loved the use of mixed materials. Feminine tulle paired with edgy chain details was extremely fitting for an icon such as Shakira."

Kumar also styled Justin Bieber in the video ‘Wait for a Minute’ by Tyga. She explained the theme of the video she had to work on to get the look right. She said, “Justin Bieber is trying to find love while dodging crazed fans and paparazzi in the visual for ‘Wait for A Minute’. Everyone is after them, everyone wants time with them, everyone wants to bask in their spotlight.” She continued, “I tried to give him an edgy, but romantic appearance, considering the theme of the song.”

Having worked with almost all the Bollywood personalities like Sonam Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Kumar has also styled the Grammy award winner Leann Rimes, Ashanti, Carmen Electra and Emily Osment.
