Sonu is like the boss in the control room: Taeesh Nigam

MUMBAI: She came into the limelight after pairing up with Sonu Nigam for her debut track ‘Singh Sahab the Great’. Teesha Nigam has had a dream debut since being launched by her older brother, the popular Sonu Nigam.

On her experience working with her sibling she said, "When I am in front of the mic and he is in the controlling room, he is a boss. Sonu knows what I am capable of and makes me overdo things until he does not get what he expects."

Nigam started learning music at a very early age but is concentrating more on independent music. She cites her father Agam Kumar Nigam and brother as her inspiration. The talented newcomer also feels that it is high time that we look beyond something that is not Bollywood. "I think the independent music scene in India is improving very rapidly and with the platforms that the independent artistes have now been given, we might witness a shift in choices of the people very soon," she explained.

When asked if Sonu was the reason for taking up music professionally, pat was the answer, "Yes to an extent, but I am independent. There were times that he did not even know what I was up to. It was only after I received the Megadhera Award, he got to know that mine was a recognised name as well."

Teesha is currently gearing up to launch her new single and has started recording for the same.

Ali has recorded a few songs for Rashid Ali, AR Rahman and will be teaming up with many more composers with whom he has never worked before. But the one he singles out is Vishal Dadlani, who he is waiting to work with.
