VAM Hussain to continue in Prasar Bharati as Principal Advisor in absence of any new appointment

NEW DELHI: Retired Brigadier- V.A.M. Hussain, until now Member (Personnel) in Prasar Bharati, has been designated Principal Advisor (Personnel and Administration) in the pubcaster.

Brig. Hussain's tenure as Member (Personnel) came to an end yesterday.

His continuance as Principal Advisor was unanimously decided at a meeting of the Prasar Board yesterday when Prasar Bharati CEO Jawhar Sircar pointed out that the selection committee had not appointed a replacement.

Hussain retired from the Indian Army after 31 years of distinguished active service. He received Chief of the Army Staff commendation card for distinguished service during OPERATION PAWAN. He has served in troubled areas during OPERATION RAKSHAK and OPERATION VIJAY.

He had later joined the public sector Indian Medicines Pharmaceutical Corporation as CEO and brought reforms in engagement of unskilled labour in the field of Indian Medicines.

He was appointed Member (Personnel) of Prasar Bharati in April 2012 and contributed to resolve some of the most pressing Human Resource issues of beleaguered Prasar Bharati. He was instrumental in guiding the Board to find solutions to open up promotional avenues for the employees and is known for his bold initiatives.
