This is further to our discussion about Ashvin Mani Sharma and Ash Roy – the two very successful music producers who are widely known for founding the band ‘Jalebee Cartel’. After performing with the band for almost a decade, the duo has now progressed on to ‘Soupherb’ records – a music label that aims to promote underground Indian artists who produce Techno music that is slightly darker, experimental and non-commercial. The duo made their international debut 5 years ago when they were invited to play at a show in Berlin, Germany. It was a beginning that was followed by many such tours in Europe such as Sweden, Denmark, Austria and Germany. Berlin became their hub of sorts as they enjoyed a fan following that really loved what they played. The two put India on the global map for DJs and artists like DJ Richie Hawtin have picked up their songs on a frequent basis. They’ve also been invited to play in hugely popular festivals such as Freqs of Nature, Drei Punkt Eins festival and Beat Plantation. Ash and Ash continue to produce their own music while managing their music label simultaneously.
