Rock band Motley Crue to retire after upcoming tour

MUMBAI: Heavy metal band Motley Crue has decided to retire after their next tour, and this time, it will be for good. The announcement was made at a press conference by the rockers on Tuesday in Los Angeles. The band went as far as signing a "cessation of touring agreement", which will come into effect by the end of 2015.

Speaking about the decision, lead singer Vince Neil said, "We want to go out with the four founding members of Motley Crue and go out on top." The tagline on the poster for the band’s upcoming tour, which is set to kick off this July in Michigan, reads "All bad things must come to an end."

As a way of saying goodbye to their fans, the American rockers, who came together in 1980, have planned a 72 date tour, which will include concerts in the US and Canada. Motley Crue’s guitarist added, "We want to leave a legacy. We want to have some dignity."

Also in the works is a country tribute album to the band, which will be released sometime during the tour. A biopic, based on Motley Crue’s 2002 book "The Dirt" and is directed by Jeff Tremaine will also be released around the same time.

The band also revealed that playing alongside them on tour will be American shock rock singer and songwriter Alice Cooper. Tickets to Motley Crue’s final tour will go on sale on Friday, 31 January.
