New Johnny Cash album set for March 2014 release

MUMBAI: A new album 'Out Among the Stars' with material recorded by late country singer, Johnny Cash, is set to be released in spring next year. According to reports Cash recorded an album with Billy Sherrill sometime in the 80s, but it was never released. The material later disappeared when Cash's then label- Columbia Records dropped him in 1986. However, his son- John Carter Cash has claimed that his father and mother- June Carter Cash stashed away almost everything they got their hands on, including tapes.

The recordings were discovered last year when John Cash was archiving his parents' possessions with Legacy Recordings, which is about nine years after the 'Walk the Line' singer passed away. Book and music restoration projects have been ongoing to mark what would have been the singer's 80th birthday and 10th death anniversary.

'Out Among the Stars', which is set for release on 25 March next year will feature music that was recorded during a particularly difficult time, both professionally and personally for Cash. Reports state that the album will include 12 original tracks without alternate versions, demos or outtakes. Also included on the new album are said to be duets with his wife and close pal- Waylon Jennings.

Cash had a stunning 49 year career and became an American folk icon before passing away at the age of 71 in 2003.
