Avicii at Sunburn Arena; Vagator new home to Sunburn Goa

MUMBAI: The Sunburn Arena at the Mahalakshmi Racecourse was set ablaze by Swedish remixer, DJ and record producer Tim Bergling, better known as Avicii on 6 December. The world number three DJ, brought to a close a string of Sunburn events that lead up to Sunburn Goa, which will take place on 27- 29 December.

The 24 year old, who shot to fame with his track 'Levels', played quite a few tracks by other artistes like Swedish House Mafia and DJ Tiesto, along with his own original tracks- 'Sunshine', 'Lay me down' and his popular track, 'Wake me up' from his debut album- True. To the crowd's surprise he also played a remix of Coldplay's soundtrack for the Hunger Games: Catching Fire, 'Atlas'. Wearing his hat backwards, he raised his hand high for the crowd to see him playing the keys of an invisible piano and had them singing along, screaming and dancing till they dropped.

A rather ambitious imitation of international EDM festivals, the gig included props like glowsticks, masks, shades, hats and the works. The light-works, though enchanting, were a little below par but the merchandise sold at the stalls was interesting. The crowd got a chance to hear a bunch of his tracks live, including 'Heart Upon My Sleeve', 'Diamonds' (from his Tomorrowland performance in 2013), 'Silhouettes', 'Levels', 'Hey Brother', 'Bromance' and a lot more. He ended his performance by pretending to leave; only to return to the crowd chanting words to his song 'Wake Me Up'. The show ended with a short clip of the requested track. Also performing at the event were Lost Stories and Otto Knows, who prepped the stage for Avicii's much awaited entrance.

Sunburn is making the most out of the popular DJ's trip to India. Avicii will be performing all weekend, at Bengaluru on 7 December and in Delhi on 8 December. Sunburn Goa also announced its new venue on 6 December as Vagator; a quaint beach in North Goa, after their staple venue for the last 6 years, Candolim, was legally purloined by Vh1 Supersonic.
