Bengluru-based Rapid Rashmi takes her listeners by storm with her quick wit and spontaneity on radio but if you every happen to miss her show or want to hear her again you just need to visit her SoundCloud page. The young and sprightly Rashmi has been religiously posting the excerpts of her show Retro Savari from 11am to 2pm to cater to her fans outside India and outside Bengluru.

In this week of Musical Rendezvous, we have Rapid Rashmi speaking about the way she uses technology to interact with her audiences.

"I don’t limit my interaction with my audiences and fans to radio - I ensure it is extended it to Social networking sites as well which enables me to talk to my fans at a personal level. My daily program allows me to interact only with eight to ten people despite reaching out to the masses. My response to every post of my fans means a lot to them - thus I dedicate at least a couple of hours for them. I inform them what time of the day I will be online. The minute I am online there are hundreds of friend requests and people trying to chat with me - I am overwhelmed by the chat windows popping on my screen and the messages and good wishes in my inbox. Social media truly helps bridge the gap between listeners and RJ."

Talking about her Facebook page that is now crossing over 67000 fans, she said "A Facebook account becomes more like your personal dairy as you keep the audiences in the loop about your daily routine. As an RJ one needs to be responsible on how they present themselves on various mediums. If I tweet or post something good about a luxury brand or restaurants, my listeners might get influenced by my review. I have to strike a balance between both."

Talking about her SoundCloud page, she said that the real reason to start the page was people who started sending her requests to upload her shows online. "Technology has made things very easy for us as it helps us building our brand and there are many listeners who hear the audio files uploaded on SoundCloud. BIG FM has only three stations in Karnataka. But a lot of people like listening to our radio programs in various cities but cannot access the station so the online platform is convenient for these listeners."

"For a traditional and powerful medium like radio, the best advantage is to enjoy the medium when you are on the move." She adds.

So what is Rapid Rashmi like off the airwaves? "I have studied music - specifically Hindustani music for more than 16 years. So music lives strongly in me. I still practice music as I was trained in it." she reveals "Apart from this, I like trying new things in life as I am a very restless person. When it comes to sports I love badminton and I like watching FIFA. I love gardening - I have 300 plants to take care of and imagine the time I spend watering the plants!"

Talking about her future plans RJ Rashmi says – "In future, I see myself honing my singing talent. I have always dreamt of entering into playback singing. I will definitely continue my training in Hindustani music. Along with singing, I would also like to operate a NGO to help children and the elderly and I am sure I will take that up sometime soon. Entertainment comes with a sense of responsibility and that is what I am trying to do here."
