'What a feeling' through Sukanya Ghosh's voice

MUMBAI: After achieving popularity in Kolkata for her musical skills, Sukanya Ghosh has made her way to Mumbai with her track ‘What a feeling' for the upcoming film Heartless. The duet with Mohit Chauhan, is composed by Gaurav Dagaonkar.

She shared with Radioandmusic.com, her experience singing for the track. "I was very excited when I was offered the track," Ghosh says gleefully. "Gaurav gave me a chance to sing for the film regardless of the fact that I am new to Bollywood. We clicked instantly and I got to sing the track. The song goes very well with my texture and style. The music is also very different."

Ghosh has sung for many Bengali films, and her released songs have already fetched her three awards including the Mirchi Music Award for best upcoming vocalist of 2011. More of her Bengali film songs will only be released in this year and and the next. She also hints that she has one more Bollywood project that will be revealed soon and is in talks with composers for other projects. She has not limited herself to film projects but is also working in the independent space. "I am producing music. My work mostly is inspired by world music. I enjoy mixing Indian music with other music forms," Ghosh reveals.

She also adds, "I am versatile, subsequently I end-up experimenting." Ghosh sings in English, Hindi and Bengali; and has knowledge of Arabic and Spanish music. She developed her knowledge on world music through her frequent association with various educational institutions in the United Kingdom.

As a kid she used to play Piano but did not sing. "I am naturally a singer. I started singing from school days winning contests and then realising my singing skills, I took it up professionally while in college. My days at St.Xaviers college Kolkata sprung me into action balancing studies and professional music and I wanted to excel at both." She holds a masters degree in Computer Sciences but has no inclination in taking up any job related to it. But Ghosh has bigger dreams and to attain it she came to the city of dreams not just to make her career in Bollywood, but to spread her musical skills around the world.
