BIG FM celebrates harvest festivals of Lohri, Pongal and Sankranti across India

MUMBAI: 92.7 BIG FM, India's No 1 Radio Network is all set to kick start the New Year with a bang and celebrate India's biggest harvest festivals with complete splendour and bring delight to listeners across regions with a host of exciting parties, contests and prizes.

Traditionally, families that have witnessed the birth of a boy child celebrate the little boy's pehli Lohri with added enthusiasm and grandeur. The popular festival of Lohri will undergo a unique and exceptional twist as 92.7 BIG FM's Delhi, Punjab and Jammu stations prepare to celebrate the festival with baby girls in a joyful environment of melodious songs composed by the leading musicians, lyricists and singers from across the country. This unique initiative - 92.7 BIG FM's Kudiyan Di Lohri – will return this year in a special way, as 4 noted lyricists and a celebrated music composer come together to create a beautiful song for the girl child. The song will be sung by young girls chosen through an on-air contest. While 92.7 BIG FM will invite families that have been blessed with a baby girl and celebrate her pehli Lohri with the same enthusiasm and fervour, the special song will be launched in this party and gifted to the girls for keeps.

For Sankranti, which symbolises progress and improvement, the network will launch the unique 'Kai Po Chhe' initiative. The festival is celebrated in innumerable ways but kite flying is an activity that is common and represents special bonding with family and friends. People young and old, fly colourful kites this day and compete to cut each other's kites down while letting their kites fly high. Keeping with the spirit of the festival, 92.7 BIG FM is organising a musical contest where the station will play a song and cut it in the middle. Listeners will then be asked to call in and suggest a song which starts with the last letter of the previous song. Prizes will be given to callers who come up with songs instantaneously.
