Kailesh Kher's bold comments at NMC 5 gets appreciation

MUMBAI: Singer-songwriter Kailesh Kher remained mum for the first part of the panel discussion - 'Bollywood –Creating The Divide’ which had artistes like Shilpa Rao and Kavita Seth on the dais as they shared their expertise.

The panel moderated by On Mobile Content Head Atul Churamani also had Bohemia Junction Ltd composer and director Andrew Mackay and Kinetic Management founder - director Ali Sachedina . But Kher used this platform to express his views about the business of music and highlighted interesting points in the favour of the artistes.

"Digital technology prevents corruption and manipulations. Social media has appeared as god in this century for art and artistes," said Kher.

Meerut born Kher also expressed, "Having a Copyright Act is not enough. In our country, people are corrupt. And lack in imparting right education, which is really a necessity. People need to be honest and present their real selves. India has a growing economy and we have to understand various aspects of the business.

Kher added that the executor(s) of music in India will have to understand that artistes have new platforms so they have to addresses the artistes with respect. "We have talent and quality in India but avenues for the artistes are lacking," he stressed. The singer presented his view on the artistes' management by the industry in a very hilarious manner that put a smile on the face of the audience but at the same thing introspecting about the way Indian music industry functioning.

Meanwhile, Shilpa Rao and Kavita Seth expressed their view on the growing need to be active on social media like Twitter and Facebook. Rao said, "I like to interact with my fans. Days when you are low, one message from fans makes thing happen."
