Ziro Festival to rock Arunachal Pradesh this September

MUMBAI: Very few souls are fortunate enough to get a chance to vacation in September. Fewer still get to spend that time truly relaxing and enjoying the nature. And the only entry that music would make in their respite would be at a restaurant with live music.

Enter, Ziro Festival. A three-day outdoor music festival in the second year of its infancy will be held in Ziro Valley, Arunachal Pradesh featuring top bands from across the country.

Scheduled for the weekend of 20, 21 and 22 September, the festival will feature selected jewels from the Indie music bushel like Imphal Talkies, Frisky Pints, Shaa’ir + Func, Sulk Station, Sky Rabbit, Purple Fusion, Digital Suicide, Gandu Circus, Polar Lights, The Vinyl Records Whirling Kalapas, and many more.

The festival aims to bring together artistes from various cultures and backgrounds to celebrate the diversity and beauty of northeast India.

Department of Tourism, (Arunachal Pradesh), American Consulate (Kolkata), Woodland, Budweiser, Gibson and Fender are the sponsors for advertising, food and equipment. Be sure to expect sizzling barbeques, local delicacies, alcohol and handicrafts stalls to add that ‘chill’ feel to the whole deal. Of course, a concert, or in this case, a series of concerts, are incomplete without people wearing band merchandise. Yes, that will be available too.

Anup Kutty, co-founder of the Ziro Festival confirms that the tickets have been priced at Rs.2500 for the three days. “We had a 1000 strong crowd last year, and that was our first year. This year we are expecting about 3000. Since the ticket sales are on different platforms, both physical and online, there is no way of getting an exact figure about the sales of the tickets at this point,” says Anup. The festival has tied up with the ticketing platforms Explara, Kyazoonga and Bookmyshow for their online sales.
