I believe interviewing someone is a great responsibility and so one has to do it seriously. I get calls where people praise my interview skills, but according to me a successful interview requires intensive research and insightful questions. Through Kal Bhi Aaj Bhi I try to give my listeners the smallest of information that I obtain by interacting with legends. My show Kal Bhi Aaj Bhi recently completed two years and I decided to celebrate the success of the show with my listeners, the sole reason for the popularity of my show.
Interviewing evergreen stars like Kalyanji-Anandji, Mangeshkar sisters, Rishi Kapoor and many more such legends, featuring in our special segment �Evergreen Star Mulakat, has been one of the best memories of my carrer. It was amazing to hear all about their life experiences from the legends themselves. I would like to confess that I am among those few lucky RJs who has prime time slot on Radio and gets an opportunity to go on a drive with my listeners at 9 pm
This show has evolved my personality. Kal Bhi Aaj Bhi helps me bring back the golden era of 70's music on Radio. The soul of the show is pure retro music and completely reflects my love for retro music which has a melody that stays forever. It's over three decades now, but we still remember the verses of the song Kabhi Kabhi Mere Dil Mein Khayal Ata Hai from the movie Silsila. The USP of the song was, its melody which was very strong and yet easy to hum. It doesn't mean that all retro songs are a hit but they are very easy to sing and hear and I guess this is one of the reasons that even today the young generation remembers and listens to the sweet and simple melodies of 70's.
Today Private FM Radio channels in the country have increased and therefore to survive the stiff competition, and come out as a winner one has to differ in content. For me Radio Jockeys can act casual with the content but they shouldn't be careless. No matter what content one handles, one must handle it with great responsibility. The most important as I even said earlier is the homework that one does on the subject. Our station firmly believes on the researched content and the way one delivers it, reflects the attitude and personality of the person handling the particular content
Finally, I would conclude by saying that Radio completely reflects one's personality. It's a place where strong personalities work. Radio has the ultimate power to connect with souls of a chaiwala to the heads of multi-national companies. Radio as a medium is easily accessible. One on one communication on radio gives listeners a chance to get closer to the personality.
I am eagerly waiting for the Phase 3 which will increase the number of Radio stations in the country. Metropolitan cities have enough access to information through other mediums, but most importantly I wish to connect to the smallest towns and villages who completely depend and rely on Radio for information.
