have been known for their brilliant compositions, but the musical trio Kailash
Kher-Paresh-Naresh fails to create magic with their score for Pranali. The
album has lots of repetitions, with the same song rendered by different artistes.
What saves the album is the soulful vocals by Kailash Kher. Also, creating an
impact are the lyrics by Anil Pandey of Suraj Hua Madham fame who has done a great
job here too. |
| Sakhiyaan
is the opening track of the album and is sung by four female playback singers.
The song sounds a perfect blend with these singers having different styles. Kailash
seems to have divided the song accurately between the four singers- the melodious
part by Shreya Ghoshal, the romantic bits by Mahalakshmi, high notes by Sunidhi
Chauhan while Richa Sharma gives a husky touch to the song. Sakhiyaan gives a
nostalgic feeling of the by-gone era and blends well with the theme of the movie,
that's based on devadasis. Hearing the fun-filled song, you just can't
wait to watch the video. The chorus throughout the song by the melodious singers
gives it a unique touch. Sach na batana sung by Kailash himself
is undoubtedly the hit song of the album which will create waves with the listeners.
Kailash's inclination towards sufi music is clearly evident through this composition.
What stands out in the number are lyrics like "Meetha meetha dard teekha
teekha gham, ashko ko chupa, hasta chal hardam!" In the end, the song
changes track, the beats are feet-tapping but get a trifle annoying. This song
transcends the listener to a different level and the concluding part is the only
discordant aspect of an otherwise appealing number. Sach na batana
also has a softer version sung by Udit Narayan, which sounds better than the coarser
rendition by Kailash Kher. But undoubtedly the Kailash Kher number is a notch
above this number because the song demands a kind of attitude which Kailash certainly
possesses. There is an additional remix version of Sach na Batana,
which again is sure to top the chartbusters and is indisputably the best composition
in the album by Kailash-Paresh-Naresh. Next composition in the album,
Bikhar Gayee by Kailash Kher has strong background music but fails to create
an impact. It is a song interpreting woman power but lacks the punch that women-oriented
songs generally have. It is a disappointing number by the composers and what is
more disappointing is that it is twice repeated in the album, sung by Madhushri
and Kailash Kher individually. Tandav is the last track in the
album composed and sung by Pt. Birju Maharaj. The tabla played in the background
grasps your ears from the beginning till the end. The USP of the song is classical
rendition aesthetically delivered by Pt. Birju Maharaj. The album gives
limited scope for the otherwise versatile Kailasa trio to experiment as it has
only three original tracks repeated twice in the album and one tandav version
composed by Pt. Birju Maharaj. Will good video presentations help reach out to
many people? We doubt.
